Here are some key steps to start a home-based online business in Quebec.
Step 1
You must register as a sole proprietor with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec. To do so, fill out the Declaration of Registration Natural person operating a sole proprietorship form. For details about registration fees and the various methods of payment, consult the List of fees and terms of payment. If you need more information, contact the Registraitre at 514 644-4545.
Step 2
You must also register for a GST-PST Tax number. The Quebec tax system is based on the principle of self-assessment. This means that you are responsible for reporting your income, calculating the income tax you owe and collecting the GST and PST if your business income is over 30,000$.

Step 3

The steps involved in starting your home-based online business will vary depending on the type of business you are starting, and where it will be located. A good place to start is our Business Start-Up Checklist and the E-business Guide.
